Beeswax Leather Polish Recipe

Here's a recipe for making wonderful leather polish with beeswax:

Ingredients:

  • 30 grams beeswax
  • 60 grams coconut oil or olive oil
  • 10 grams cocoa butter
  • 10 grams shea butter
  • 10 drops essential oil for fragrance (very optional)
  • A small, clean tin or container for storage

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Your Work Area: Ensure your work area is clean and sanitized. Have all your ingredients and equipment ready.

  2. Weigh and Combine Ingredients: Measure the beeswax, coconut oil, cocoa butter, and shea butter using a kitchen scale. Place these ingredients in a heatproof container.

  3. Melt the Ingredients: Use a double boiler or a heatproof glass container placed in a saucepan of water to melt the beeswax, coconut oil, cocoa butter, and shea butter over low to medium heat. Stir occasionally until everything is fully melted and well combined.

  4. Fragrance with Essential Oil (Optional): If you want to add a distinctive scent to your leather polish, add about 10 drops of your preferred essential oil. Stir well to evenly distribute the fragrance.

  5. Pour into Container: Carefully pour the hot liquid leather polish into a small, clean tin or container. Ensure that the container is clean and dry before filling it.

  6. Cool and Set: Allow the leather polish to cool and solidify for a few hours. You can speed up the process by placing it in the refrigerator.

  7. Seal the Container: Once the leather polish has completely solidified, seal the container with a lid or cap.

  8. Use: To use the leather polish, take a small amount onto a clean cloth or sponge and apply it to your leather items. Gently rub the polish onto the leather in a circular motion. Allow it to dry, and then buff the leather with a clean, dry cloth to achieve a nice shine.

Store your homemade beeswax leather polish in a cool, dry place. It should stay fresh for several months. The essential oil, if used, not only adds a pleasant scent but also acts as a natural preservative. If you notice any changes in color, scent, or texture, it's best to discontinue use, as it may have gone bad.

Make sure you the beeswax you use are raw 100 % pure beeswax, like sold on this site. Click to view our products:
